2022 Chevrolet Tahoe owner complaints (15)

  • SERVICE BRAKES

was moving vehicles around in driveway and vehicle was running and in parked position in the driveway on slight hill and after 4-5 mins of sitting there idle vehicle rolled down the hill towards kids playing and struck another vehicle. when i got back into vehicle, the vehicle was in park and the reverse lights and reverse camera were on while the vehicle was in park.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I am writing to formally report a critical safety defect regarding the OnStar Telematics Control Module in my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe High Country VIN: [XXX] . My vehicle was recently diagnosed by SERRA CHEVROLET as having a failed module, which has rendered numerous essential features inoperative. This is not an isolated incident; there is clear evidence of a widespread failure affecting thousands of GM and Chevrolet owners. The failure of this module creates significant safety risks, including: * Loss of Emergency Services: The OnStar SOS button and automatic crash response are disabled, leaving me without a lifeline in the event of an accident. * Systemic Vehicle Malfunctions: This module is deeply integrated into the vehicle’s architecture. Its failure has caused [list your specific issues, e.g., "Check Engine" lights, heads-up display failure, and battery drainage]. * Disabled Connectivity: Core features I paid a premium for, such as navigation, remote start, and Wi-Fi, are now "bricked". It is unacceptable that a flagship $80,000+ vehicle is operating in a degraded and potentially dangerous state due to a known hardware defect. I am requesting that GM take immediate responsibility for this repair at no cost to me, regardless of warranty status, as this is a fundamental safety issue. Please provide a timeline on how GM intends to rectify this widespread defect. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] 39,000 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • POWER TRAIN

My vehicle has suffered a Transmission Control Valve Failure (stuck open). This is the exact mechanical failure detailed in GM’s Nationwide Recall N24245441-02. It is deeply disheartening and illogical that my vehicle—which shares the exact year, make, model, and identical mechanical failure detailed in the safety bulletin—is excluded from the recall purely due to an arbitrary VIN filtering process

  • ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Vehicle lost all power while driving on interstate, there were no warning messages displayed. The initial recall was performed on vehicle.

  • UNKNOWN OR OTHER

After a rain fall a "swooshing" sound is heard above, water will pour through the overhead lights where the onstar is, the seatbelts and the back interior lights. The drain tubes to the sunroof have been cleared and the problem still persist. When the water comes in the buttons start blinking and it causes a risk to the person driving when they are distracted by the water pouring in and the water pooling under your feet possibly causing your foot to slip while driving.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe diesel unexpectedly lost power while driving. I was stopped, made a right turn, and accelerated to approximately 34–40 mph on a two-way street when the vehicle suddenly shook, shifted into neutral, and the engine shut off without warning. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or prior symptoms before the failure. I was driving with two young children secured in car seats at the time. This created a serious safety risk because the vehicle became disabled in the roadway, and I had limited control while traffic was present. The vehicle has not yet been diagnosed, and the exact failed component/system is unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The incident has been reported to a dealer or service center, but the problem has not yet been confirmed or reproduced at this time.

  • ENGINE

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light was flashing, and the vehicle was shuddering. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, and it was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinder #5. The dealer informed the contact that the engine was taken apart during the diagnostic process, and the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact expressed doubts that the engine was taken apart or repaired because the dealer had only sent pictures of the exterior of the vehicle to the warranty company. Additionally, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

  • POWER TRAIN,ENGINE

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that at approximately 55,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a torque converter failure, and the torque converter was replaced under the factory warranty. The contact stated that four months later, the failure reoccurred, and the dealer declined to cover the repair. Subsequently, the camshaft failed, leading to a recommendation for a complete engine replacement. The contact stated that old parts from the original engine were installed on the new engine without authorization. Two months after the engine replacement, the transmission valve body failed while the vehicle was 237th on a back-order list. Three months after a second transmission repair, the vehicle suffered another transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission was new but discovered but was being charged for the installation of old, faulty parts from the original engine onto the new powertrain. The vehicle was currently at the dealer, and the contact was without transportation. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

  • STEERING,POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Car got stuck between gears while driving on the road. The vehicle accelerated by itself almost causing me to crash. I immediately pulled over into a business and put the truck in park. The car stayed on. It turned on and off but would not shift gears. Would not go from park to reverse or drive. And unfortunately the “warranty” only cover 60k miles. Conveniently right before this well known issue goes out. The main issue was Pressure Control Solenoid C Stuck On. This issue is an issue many people are having and since it is a drivetrain issue this can affect many lives while on the road.

  • ENGINE

I had the recall for the Momentary Rear Wheel Lock-up completed on 2025-05-04. While I was driving March 2026 my Tahoe went into limp mode and I had to have it towed because it wouldn’t reverse it was towed a day after this happened to Lynch Chevrolet. It has sat there ever since with no fix in site. I had to get a rental vehicle that GM is paying for but they have stipulations to what they pay for and the vehicle they gave is not comparable or better than MY car. Not only is this an inconvenience but they are doing the bare minimum to help with their mistakes.

  • UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT REGARDING AN ACCIDENT INVOLVINGMY 2022 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING NORMALLY, THE REAR WHEELS SUDDENLY LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AND CRASH INTO A WAL. THE IMPACT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH THAT THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I WAS NOTIFIED ON 02/13/2026 ABOUT THE RECALL BUT THE RECALL STATUS (REMEDY NOT AVAILABLE) WITH RECALL NUMBER N252536750 STOP DELIVERY- REAR WHEEL LOCKUP. THEN ON 03/12/2026 I RECIEVED AN EMAIL STATING THE RECALL STAUTUS (REMEDY AVAILABLE). ALSO, ON 03/15/2026 I RECIEVED ANOTHER EMAIL WITH A RECALL STATUS (REMEDY NOT AVAILABLE) WITH RECALL NUMBER N252536750 STOP DELIVERY- REAR WHEEL LOCKUP. I HAVE SINCE THEN BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT POSSIBLY DUE TO A TRANSMISSION CONTROL VALVE ISSUE. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT FAILURE DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL, I BELIEVE THE DEFECT DIRECTLY CAUSE THE LOSS OF CONTROL AND RESULTING CRASH. I AM REQUESTING THAT THIS INCIDENT BE INVESTIGATED AND THAT GENERAL MOTORS REVIEW RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGES RELATED TO THIS DEFECT.

  • POWER TRAIN

Had issues transitioning to reverse, drove vehicle to the dealership. While driving on a busy road vehicle went into limp mode and had to pull over. Vehicle needed to be towed to the dealership. Dealership was able to verify vehicle was unable to reverse. They also found P0700 and P0776 error codes. They also used service bulletin 22-NA-258. We had not noticed excessively harsh shifting prior to this event. Had to replace components in the valve body

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Driving down the freeway and it began raining. The wipers worked and then they just stopped working and it was pouring in the rain. I had to pull over because I couldn’t see. This has happened two other times. In having my vehicle inspected it showed no problem with the switch or wiper motor. The infotainment system also frequently locks up and restarts even after the recall was fixed.

  • POWER TRAIN

Driving at 75mph upgrade westbound out of Denver, Co. Engine failed, shut down at speed, had to emergency move to right shoulder through 3 lanes of traffic. The last 10 mph it locked wheels to a screeching halt. Towed to Foundation Chevrolet. Confirmed engine failed, needs replacement. Every service done on regular basis by same dealer. Had "recall" band aid performed a couple months ago, where they changed oil vicosity and did inspection.
