2011 Ford Edge owner complaints (15)
- SERVICE BRAKES
Break Booster Break fell to the floor, slow to stop, spongy. I was able to put on my hazards and roll to safety stop. Huge risk if I was going faster or turning a curve. Dangerous to me and others to not being able to stop The problem hasn’t been taken to the shop yet as it was closed and I had the same problem in 2025 and 2023 which were confirmed and fixed with ford parts. I am suspecting it is the same issue. Even if replaced the car is likely not safe wi the this part failing 3 times in less than 4 years. No warnings or symptoms, just falls to the floor and spongy break reaction
- SERVICE BRAKES
Brake Booster Was exiting the freeway so already slowed but it was a curvy off-ramp, thankfully no one was close and the car was already slowed, but on hazards and coasted home at 5 mph. Huge safety concern Tow truck towed to HTS Automotive to determine the brake booster went out, which we already knew as the same thing happened in 2023! No warnings, no symptoms prior
- SERVICE BRAKES
Brake Booster All of a sudden my brake went to the floor and made a hissing sound, spongy response. Took it to Cowin Ford and they diagnosed and replaced the brake booster. It was really dangerous as response to brake was really slow. I almost hit a car in front of me. No warnings or symptoms prior.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing out of the garage and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to immediately stop. The brake pedal was spongy. The contact stated that later, while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the braking distance was extended. The vehicle was slowly driven to the local mechanic, who diagnosed that the brake booster had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted or notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.
- SERVICE BRAKES
The brake pedal sunk all the way to the floor before braking. This has happened multiple times and now there is a leak in the ABS which we are in need of a ABS pump. Was told by mechanic that this is an ongoing problem with the Ford Edges. And, the real problem is the mechanic cannot find a replacement pump for it. Multiple locations were contacted but nothing is available. My Edge is a 2011 and currently has 84,500 miles. It’s a dangerous situation when the pedal sinks to the floor before stopping. There are no ABS warnings that pop up on the dash. Need to know what Ford is doing about this.
- STRUCTURE
The throttle body issues again with the burning smell as well the whole car shut down like the other two times I reported on this website! Please note the team who fixed it last time was at Poway Ford and the main manager from auto maintenance was fired due to attempting to correct the issue on my 2011 Ford Edge!
- SERVICE BRAKES
The brake pedal does not feel right and the car continues to roll. My mechanic found that the brake pedal vacuum boosters commonly fail on this model. He repaired it and less than a year later it has failed again. I heard the air leak when pressing the pedal and the car does not stop, it continues to roll. I've had to park it because this is a safety issue. I do not want to risk my life or cause property damage. The car has less than 130,000 miles on it and no warning lights or messages come on the dash for this. This repair was over $600 but the manufacturer should fix this and make sure it's right and safe.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving 10 MPH and coming to a stop, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond as intended. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with brake master cylinder failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired a second time. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
- STRUCTURE
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the rear-view camera displayed a blank image while in reverse(R), and the side mirrors readjusted at start-up. Additionally, the power seat settings failed to remain programmed, and the power windows failed to roll down as needed. Over time, there was an abnormal wire-burning odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the body control module was inoperable. Upon investigation, the contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V659000 (Structure); and associated the failure with the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Rear back up camera is inverted. Has been for many years. Ford says no fix. There has been many recalls for this problem on other model years. Why not this year, 2011
- STRUCTURE
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be registered due to the incomplete recall of NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V659000 (Structure). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the recall repair could not be completed because the part for the repair had been discontinued. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle could not be returned due to the incomplete safety recall. The vehicle remained at the dealer for two months. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the VIN could not be removed from the recall. The contact had not experienced a failure.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the brake pedal was firm while depressing with an abnormal hissing sound coming from the vehicle. Due to the failure, the braking distance was extended. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with power brake booster unit failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the same information as the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 197,000.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Back up camera problem. I have reported this before. I have difficulty remembering the date, but since I've reported it before, hopefully you'll find the info. Please help!
- SERVICE BRAKES
This issue happened back June 2025 when I make a wide turn, the car automatically go into limp mode and all the lights on the dashboard that is related to the brake system comes on, so for example, the advanced traction control sensor, the brake mode, the traction mode and the ABS mode and this is very dangerous because I realize when I am driving locally, and if I’m in the middle of a major intersection, I can be struck because I would have to immediately turn my car off turn it back on and then it will start moving again. Sometimes it takes a while for it to start moving again.
