2024 Honda Pilot owner complaints (15)
- SEAT BELTS
The middle row, outer passenger side seat, belt, warning, light, and chime comes on intermittently when person is buckled up showing false positive vice versa input on the dash – regarding the seatbelt usage
- SEAT BELTS
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that the second-row passenger’s side seat belt became inoperable while buckled and a passenger was seated in the seat. The contact stated that there was a loud chime while the was occupied and the seat belt was buckled; however, the warning sound failed to turn off. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.
- STEERING
2024 Honda Pilot steering rack problem In December 2023, we purchased a brand-new Honda Pilot Touring. As of today, June 25, 2026 our Honda Pilot will receive from a certified Honda Dealer Repair section it’s third 3rd, yes, third steering rack and pinion. First time back to the dealer, they used special grease and grease it. This did nothing, to stop the creaking and cracking as you turn the steering wheel. This issue continued as you drove the vehicle. Second time back a week later, the Honda Technician replace the steering rack. We had to wait for the new rack to arrive, no stock. Now our new vehicle has the original replaced with a second steering rack. Now 10 months later, with a total of 15,670 miles on our vehicle the steering rack and pinion is once again creaking and cracking. Back to the dealer. Our dealer notified Honda Corporate Tech Center for direction in this matter. Once again, our dealer is to replace the defective steering rack. Currently our dealer is waiting for the new steering rack to arrive. I understand Honda has a huge issue on many vehicle types, Pilots, Passports, and CRV’s that this same steering rack is defective in huge quantities. I am worried that driving at speed on the interstate highway that this steering rack may seize up and cause an accident by not allowing us to turn the steering wheel.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Bad AC compressor blow out valve leak diagnosed by the dealer. Issue appeared at time of purchase but we weren’t sure because the ac was still blowing cool air, just not very cold. Just recently I mentioned it to the dealer and they diagnosed the issue at 41,000 miles.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
A/C is blowing hot air. The dealership is saying I need a new A/C compressor. Car is only 2 years old. It’s not under warranty because of how far I have to drive for work everyday. I’ve seen many other people who have the same issue. They are saying $3K to fix.
- POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I am filing a safety complaint regarding a 2024 Honda Pilot Touring with approximately 46,000 miles. The exact component or system that failed is currently UNKNOWN. My best assessment is that this may involve the electrical system, powertrain, engine control/software system, charging system, Auto Idle Stop system, or another related vehicle control system. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has had intermittent multiple warning lights appear on the dashboard. On June 7, 2026 around 9:00pm, while the vehicle was in Drive, the vehicle shut off/lost power. This created a serious safety risk because the vehicle was being operated when the shutdown/loss-of-power event occurred. I am concerned this could happen again while driving, including at freeway speeds or while transporting a child. The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle was taken to a Honda authorized dealership for inspection. The dealership advised that the battery tested fine and that no diagnostic trouble codes were found so far. Diagnostics are still pending, and as of this complaint, no confirmed cause, diagnosis, or repair has been provided. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. American Honda Motor Co. has been contacted, and a case has been opened regarding this concern. Warning lamps/symptoms did occur before the shutdown/loss-of-power event. The vehicle had intermittent multiple warning lights on the dashboard before/around the time of the incident. The warning lights first appeared on or around June 3, 2026. The shutdown/loss-of-power event occurred on or around June 7, 2026. I am requesting that NHTSA document this safety issue involving a 2024 Honda Pilot Touring shutting off/loss of power while in Drive with no confirmed diagnosis or repair at this time.
- SEAT BELTS
Second-row right passenger seat belt buckler is malfunctioning and alerting when the seat belt is buckled. The alert is distracting as a driver and my children can not sit in that seat since we can't tell if they are buckled or not. The first time it malfunctioned was a week or so ago in the middle of May 2026 and the problem has only gotten progressively worse to the point we can't have anyone sit in that seat. I have set up an appointment for the dealership to look at this issue in June. No one else has inspected the vehicle so far.
- ENGINE
My vehicle has already had recalls on the fuel system and brake pin. Now I have an auto idle stop system problem. The indicator light is constantly flashing. Two days ago I was stopped at a red light on a two lane road in the city. When I pushed in the brake the car did not come out of idle. It just stalled. It took probably 30 seconds to a full minute before I could do anything. My option was to restart. It created a situation for myself and others.
- SEAT BELTS
Second row, right side seat belt sensor is malfunctioning. It started about 6 weeks ago. Occasionally, when going around a turn, an alarm would chime and a red X would appear on the affected seat on the dash screen. It was very quick, and sometimes I just heard the chime and did not see anything on the dash. The issue has become more frequent over time, so that it went from happening a couple times a week to multiple times in one trip, not always when going around a turn. Just a few days ago, the passenger got in and buckled, yet the system showed that it was not buckled. The seat belt was securely latched. The alarm continued to sound and the dash showed a red X on that seat plus a red picture of a person wearing a seat belt. It was a short (about 1 mile drive) and the alarm went off the whole time. We had to reconfigure the vehicle so that seat is no longer being used. We contacted the dealer and they stated that our VIN has no recall or Service Bulletins related to the issue. We are taking it in to be inspected later this week. The dealer would not order any parts or schedule a replacement until they tested it themself.
- SEAT BELTS
Right and center rear passenger seat belt sensors are malfunctioning. Despite passengers wearing their seatbelts, the dashboard and warning alarms signal that they are not wearing their seatbelts. I am concerned for the safety of my children who need to be in the back seats and fear that the seat belt system and sensors are not reliable.
- SERVICE BRAKES
The vehicle's Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) is triggering 'phantom braking' at 50mph when there are no vehicles or hazards ahead. This occurs consistently on roads with dark asphalt patches/crack sealant. The braking is severe enough to cause a potential rear-end collision. I have reported this to Honda Corporate (Case #16338446) and have an appointment with a dealer, but the issue persists and is a major safety risk for my family.
- SEAT BELTS
Recently the vehicle has developed an erratic behavior when a passenger on mid-row seat is using the seat belt, seat belt reminder goes on/off every few seconds displaying inaccurate information of when the seat belt is in use. I contacted my local Honda dealer describing the problem and informing them of Honda's service bulletin #TSB A26-027, which describes exactly the same symptoms my vehicle is having and they've been unwilling to address the issue, as the TSB is not an active recall.
- SEAT BELTS
Component/System Failure: The right rear passenger seatbelt buckle/sensor appears to be malfunctioning. It intermittently registers as unbuckled even when the seatbelt is securely fastened. The component is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This defect creates a safety concern by causing continuous distraction to the driver due to repeated seatbelt warning chimes and alerts. It may also lead to uncertainty about whether the passenger is properly restrained, potentially compromising occupant safety. Reproduction/Confirmation: The issue has been consistently reproduced during normal driving conditions. It occurs frequently, even when the seatbelt is properly latched. The issue has not yet been formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Inspection History: The vehicle/component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Warning Lamps/Messages/Symptoms: The seatbelt warning chime and dashboard alert activate intermittently while driving, despite the seatbelt being properly fastened. No prior warning signs were observed before the issue began. The problem first appeared in January 2026. Additional Notes / Assessment: Based on the symptoms, this appears to be a faulty seatbelt sensor or buckle connection issue causing false readings.
- SEAT BELTS
I have had ongoing seat belt sensor issues with my vehicle. The middle row alarm would go off even when someone was buckled. Now it Has disabled itself and does not sense if someone is buckled or not. Now I also have two seat in the 3rd row that are intermittent alarms causing you to turn around and see if someone is in the seats or un buckled. The alarms go from constant to intermittent and will occur regardless of the weight of the person in the seat.
- SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
My Honda Pilot automatically applied the brakes 2 times while traveling on the interstate at 60 mph when there was no one in front of me and no one even near me. Both times it applied the brakes automatically and suddenly for no reason. It could have caused a bad accident. I was fortunate no one was behind me. Honda denies anything is wrong because it didn’t do it for them when they took it for a drive.
